I spend a lot of time thinking about the concept of Jo-ha-kyū.
roughly translated to “beginning, break, rapid”, it essentially means that all actions or efforts should begin slowly, speed up, and then end swiftly.
there are many situations in which I have found this to be the case.
a golf swing.
a basketball shot.
writing poetry.
paint strokes.
marketing sprints.
strategic execution.
not many people know this, but that’s why it’s called a flow state. because you’re supposed to do it in one fluid motion. a beginning, a breakout, a finish. an introduction, a climax, and closure.
not surprisingly, visualization is a big part of this process. the more clearly you can visualize this process, the cleaner your execution.
