I don’t really have anything super duper important to talk about, so I figured I’d just pull on a few loose strings from the day.

> I was eating a banana today, and part of the peel touched my phone as I was watching a video, and screen reacted as if it was my finger touching the screen. thus, I reasonably concluded that banana peels register as human skin to a phone screen.

it’s interesting, kind of, but given the similarities in texture, I guess it kind of makes sense. what I find more interesting is how you can figure out how a thing works based on what it does. sounds simple, because it is. so simple that it often gets overlooked. however, one draw certain conclusions about the hardware and its mechanics being used in touch screen sensors based on the physical similarities between a banana peel and human finger.

there is alpha everywhere for those with eyes to see.

> certain ways of interfacing with things make them more accessible; and of course, naturally, certain ways of interfacing also make things less accessible. car transmissions are an example that come to mind, but I mean, wow, there’s a whole world of examples out there, really.

the latest is our wonderful friend, the Large Language Model. I was thinking today that perhaps, at least for some, LLMs might be more of an interface than an application. the ability to bridge the computational power of a computer with the creativity of the human mind in a way that non-technical people like me utilize is…certainly a type of paradigm shift. I haven’t even done anything exceptionally complex with this technology, but it’s infinitely more than I ever could’ve done without it.

the individual’s intellectual appetite will now always be satiated. anyone can learn anything, if they have the discipline and consistency. the world has never been more at your fingertips.

that’s about it.

I have a book I really need to be finishing. sometimes I wonder if all the smaller things I do take away time from big things. perhaps I should be taking fewer small swings and focus on lining up more big swings.

conversely, there are those around me who tell me I should be doing the opposite. more small swings, less big swings.

there’s a moment for everything.

time will tell!
