I played about 3 hours of full-court, 5v5 basketball this morning.
I played 18 holes of golf in the afternoon.
it was a long day for sports.
something that I always find interesting, particularly when shooting a basketball or swinging a golf club: these actions are physical representations of Jo Ha Kyu.
a concept of modulation and movement applied in a wide variety of traditional Japanese arts. Roughly translated to "beginning, break, rapid", it essentially means that all actions or efforts should begin slowly, speed up, and then end swiftly.
I have written and discussed and mentioned and implied and alluded and yadda yadda to the connection between these concepts ad nauseam and will continue doing so because I think it’s important.
I think there are many things in life that start slowly, then speed up, then cease altogether in a rapid manner.
perhaps there are many things in life that are best done with a poetic fluidity. a certain elegance and “phenomenological rhythm”.
something to think about, I guess.
