when we think about simulacra, colloquially, and point to things we think to be imposter, these exemplifications are typically done with physical, tangible things we can point to and say, “it is here”.

ok, sure, yes. this is easy to understand and make sense. but what about the abstract stuff?

and furthermore, what happens when we have preconceived notions regarding the existential makeup of a Thing? how does that impact the perception of that thing’s existence, and furthermore, the things experience of us, and our matching the things preconceived notions about what we might be like.

this infinite loop of, essentially, I-know-that-you-know-that-I-know etc etc is the source of much social friction. we mould ourselves into simulacrum to fit the caste of an identity we make up in the minds of others.

when we think about “killing an ego” (never been a fan of that phrasing), we are alluding to the process of calming this friction. when there are no preconceived notions regarding an experience, there is no mould to be made, and no simulacrum version of ourselves to fit that mould.

something to think about, I guess.
